History of the Organization
Monique Bryant, Founder and President, started Small Talk Maternity Home after noticing disparities in services in her roles as both a foster parent and a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor(LCMHC). Additionally, during her time as a teacher and a probation officer she often found that teenage females had very limited resources available to them. Ms. Bryant shared that, "Many foster parents and agencies do not want to take on the responsibility of a teenager, let alone an expectant teenage female”.
Inspired to act, Ms. Bryant began developing Small Talk Maternity Home, Inc., a sector that addresses the needs of teenagers who are pregnant. Through research, fervent prayer, and the support of her community, she has taken the steps to solidify Small Talk Maternity Home as a 501(c)3 nonprofit as a way to make a positive contribution to the community, but more importantly to the givers of life - Moms!
